Are you tired of constantly procrastinating? This guide will help you to become your most productive self and stop procrastinating. After exploring numerous videos and books on this topic, I have summarized some of the main points for you.
Establish a morning routine
Everything starts in the morning. A good morning routine sets the tone for the rest of the day and keeps you motivated and focused. The best thing is to start with a small productive task such as making your bed. I know what you might think that no one will come inside my room so why make it? But it is not for others it is for yourself. By making your bed you have already done one productive thing – A cleaner house leads to a cleaner mind.
Start your day with joy
Sometimes we all have these lazy mornings where all we want is to go back to bed and do nothing. In the mornings do something you love to generate good and happy feelings which will give you a great start to the day. It can be either playing your favorite music, reading a book, workout, or meditating – whatever you enjoy doing.
Working out
Exercise is something we can associate with exhausting training which some people don’t enjoy doing especially in the morning. But it can be any form of exercise such as yoga, pilates, morning walk or heavy streanght training. Whatever you feel comfortable doing. By doing exercise and working out in the morning you release negative energy from your body. Research also shows that doing some form of exercise can make you make healthier choices throughout your day. Working out releases happy hormones called endorphins, which lower your stress levels and increase your happiness. Not to mention the good feeling and energy you have after working out.
A good breakfast
The saying breakfast is the most important meal of the day is not something that is over. It is truly important especially if you want to have a productive day. By eating a healthy, nutritious breakfast, you give your body and brain the energy needed to function effectively. This is what helps you keep focus and keep that productivity up. Without energy, you get sloppy and tired leading to a form of self-sabotaging. You cannot work at the desired level or accomplish the desired tasks of the day.
Changing your environment
It is a proven fact that your brain associates certain rooms and clothes with certain activities – bedroom and pajamas for sleeping, kitchen for cooking, etc. Being in the right environment is crucial for getting things done when working or studying. If you are in your home, make sure you are sitting up by a table in a room. This reduces distractions and avoid being in your bedroom. The same way goes that sometimes you have to change the environment such as going to cafes, and libraries to get motivation and get inspired by seeing other people working.
Take breaks throughout the day
During your work time and the day make sure you take breaks, go for a walk, to clean your head to be able to continue to focus. By aiming for a full day of work without getting tired or stuck on the same task is challenging. By setting small goals for the day and deciding what tasks to complete, you can structure and organize your time. As you check off each task, you’ll see your progress toward your goals.
A calendar is a great way of planning your days to make sure you’re not putting all the work in the wen of the week but finding that balance between work and prioritizing yourself and your hobbies will be much easier to handle. Seeing what you must do for the week or day, increases the chances of them being achieved.
See your goal
It’s easy to get lost in the working process and forget what you are working for, therefore, a mood board is an excellent way to see your vision and have it as a reminder to give you motivation. Position it where you’ll see it first thing in the morning and last thing at night.
Write down your goals somewhere – in a journal or just a piece of paper – what are you doing now, which of these things you are doing now is helping you reach your goals, and what can you further change to reach the goal.
Remember that it takes 28 days to turn a habit into a routine so when you choose to start changing your days to become a more productive person, start small with waking up early or having a healthy breakfast, even setting up small goals to have a start of that long-term change.
